Lyrics

Artificial Horizon

At 14 years like most people I know
I knew it all, I never made a mistake
My folks would tell me
“Son, you’re gonna need a helping hand some day”
So I fought and I ran, ignored outstretched hands
I was determined to go it alone
In buses and vans I travelled this land
Down a road that never seemed to go home

Chorus-
I need an artificial horizon, someone to show me the way
If for once in my life I could think to do right
And not just to live for today

The spring of my life, it passed me right by
I lived rough, I lived hard, I did wrong
I finally came up for air, there was grey in my hair
I’d been gone too long

Chorus-
I need an artificial horizon, someone to show me the way
If for once in my life I could think to do right
And not just to live for today

Bridge- I could spend my whole life looking back with regret
But what would that change
So I keep pushing forward & I hope for the best
Every wrong turn another lesson I learned along the way

Chorus-
I need an artificial horizon, someone to show me the way
I need an artificial horizon, someone to show me the way
If for once in my life I could think to do right
And not just to live for today
